Want to recycle plastic bags by creating sleeping mats for the homeless? The Pomona Host Lions Club is holding its monthly PlarnFest on Wednesday, March 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The location is St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 242 E. Alvarado Street in Pomona.
People are needed to help with all phases of making the ground mats – from straightening and then cutting the bags into strips, to loop-tying the strips into plarn and finally crocheting the plarn into mats. Plarn is the compressed word for plastic yarn.
Volunteers are asked to bring scissors. People who can crochet should bring a size Q hook.
