Chino Hills rallies to beat Claremont, 8-6
Wolfpack drop another game and fall further behind in the Sierra League standings.
By Elsie Ramos
After leading for six innings, Claremont (5-5) let one slip away to Chino Hills (6-4) Tuesday losing 8-6. The Wolfpack have now lost five of their last seven games and are in third place in the Sierra League standings.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, with two men on, one out and Claremont up 5-4, Chino Hills Jeremy Steggell hit a routine pop up to the shortstop, but when the ball began to sail over the pitcher’s mound the shortstop tripped and the ball was dropped. The umpires called in the infield fly rule, moving the base runners into scoring position for outfielder Gabe Martinez.
