Spartans shutout Wolfpack, 5-0

Claremont loses its third in a row and falls two games back of first place.

By Elsie Ramos

The Claremont offense could not find its rhythm Tuesday losing 5-0, against a strong pitching performance from Damien’s Grant Hockin.

Hockin was solid from beginning to end, giving up two hits, one walk and eight strikeouts in a complete game shutout.  After giving up a hit in the first inning the Spartan (4-4) pitcher retired 17 in a row, until bottom of the seventh where he gave up a single.
