Wolfpack take a bite out of Huskies, 12-11
Claremont wins in a nail-biter and is now tied for first place in Sierra League
By Elsie Ramos
Claremont needed to win their game Tuesday, not just to improve their record, but to prove to themselves and everyone else that they can play with and beat the best in the league. And that is exactly what they did, beating Sierra League leaders and defending champion South Hills (13-5) 12-11.
It all came down to the top of the seventh inning. Leading 12-8, Claremont head coach Geoff Ranney pulled his starting pitcher, Tyler Witt, hoping a four run lead would be enough. But the Huskies did not go down easily.
