Brush Fire Closes 210 Freeway East Of Claremont, Caltrans Says

CLAREMONT, CA — A brush fire east of Claremont closed a section of the 210-Freeway, Caltrans District 8 advised drivers Tuesday morning. he brush fire was reported at 11:10 a.m. in the area of the 210-Freeway just west of the 15-Freeway

The fire, which began just before 11 a.m., according to ABC7 reports, began near Day Creek Boulevard. Eastbound 210 was closed at Archibald Avenue and westbound traffic was stopped at the 15 freeway. Throughout the day, Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and CalFire battled the blaze which reached 40 acres before forward progression of the fire was stopped.

Amid high winds and blowing smoke, no structures were destroyed and no evacuations were ordered, according to the RCFD. By 1o p.m. Tuesday, the fire was mapped at 40 acres, with 80% containment. All freeway closures on the 210 and the 15 Freeways were lifted, but RCFD advised drivers to exercise caution, as firefighters continued to work alongside the roadways.
