This special event is our Project Leader Workshop. What exactly is a Project Leader? If you organize or help pull together shoebox packing for a church, school, business, or community group for Operation Christmas Child—that's YOU!
But here is the best part: This event is open to EVERYONE! Whether you've packed a hundred boxes or are just curious about how you can get involved, we invite you to join us and hear how we can impact the world for Jesus together.

California Botanic Garden

Kick off your fall nighttime fun at California Botanic Garden this October 2nd and 3rd with Things That Go Bump in the Night! Guests are encouraged to bring flashlights to explore the nocturnal worlds of plants and animals at booths and stages scattered throughout the Garden. Attendees can enjoy interactive activities, connect with live animals, make creepy crawly crafts, take guided flashlight tours, and grab dinner at a food truck. Live presentations include the “The World Famous Spider Show” comedy show and The Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Partners and Exhibitors include Pomona Valley Bird Alliance, LA Bat Rescue, The Invertebrate Club of Southern California, scientists from Scripps College and CalState Fullerton, and Night Hikes guided by the Sierra Club. Food and drinks will be available from Marigold Coffee Collective, Crepes Bonaparte, The Tropic Truck (Friday), and Guac N Roll Tacos (Saturday).&nbsp;

Celebrate the seasonal opening of Grow Native Nursery, the California native plant retail nursery of California Botanic Garden, at the Fall Plant Sale on October 10th and 11th. The fall plant sale comes at the perfect time of year for garden planning and planting in Southern California and offers the most comprehensive selection of native plants that you’ll find all year. Grow Native Nursery features an expert staff and thousands of unusual and hard-to-find native plants, many grown in our own facilities. You’re sure to find the perfect fit for your waterwise garden or landscape, whether you’re starting from scratch by removing your ornamental lawn or supplementing an existing drought-tolerant planting area. Native plant experts will be available at the Sale to offer recommendations based on size, bloom color, attractiveness to wildlife, water needs, and much more. Preliminary inventory will be posted on the Grow Native Nursery website by October 5, 2026, but will be subject to updates through October 9, 2026. On Saturday, October 10th, shoppers can also purchase hand decorated grapevine wreaths and other items made by CalBG’s Native Designs volunteer floral arranging collective as well as home-made baked goods (all wreath and baked goods sales benefit CalBG’s volunteer organization). On October 10th the Sale will be open to the general public from 10 AM to 4 PM. The Sale is open to all from 9 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, October 11th.&nbsp;
