Garden Groove: Zach Tenorio and Friends with Living Earth and Solarc Brewing

Garden Groove presents unique musical performances framed by the unique sights, sounds, and smells of California Botanic Garden’s enchanting Forest Pavilion. Each concert features a local, small business drinks vendor featuring Taste Wild native plant inspired drink offerings. All tickets include admission to the Garden, plus member tickets include drink discounts!
Enjoy a pre-concert picnic in the Forest Pavilion: order a special Cheese Cave cheese platter for pickup at the Garden during the event. Platters include: 5 proteins (3 cheeses/2 meats or 5 cheeses), Olive/Cornichon mix, mini cracker pack, Mustard, Jam, Dried Fruit, and Quicos. Platters serve 2-4 people and orders must be placed by Tuesday at 5 PM before each Thursday concert.
Garden friends Living Earth and their partners at Solarc Brewing present an evening of compositions and improvisation featuring keyboardist Zach Tenorio and Friends. Solarc will be on hand to sell specialty Taste Wild beer and tea offerings brewed with plants harvested from the Garden.
Zach Tenorio is a GRAMMY-nominated artist, co-founder, and keyboardist for the beloved Los Angeles trio Arc Iris. A collaborator among musicians like Willow Smith, Jon Anderson of Yes, and Vampire Weekend's Chris Tompson, Zach is a prolific and generous musician known for hosting concerts in his backyard and sitting in with improvisatory ensembles throughout the week whether they be in a recording studio, community space, or garden. For this evening, he has curated a very special gathering of friends—a supergroup just for the California Botanic Garden—and we hope that you'll join us for this deep performance of Zach Tenorio & Friends featuring Dave Harrington, Aaron Steele, and Spencer Zahn.
Dave Harrington is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer and producer. A freewheeling and psychedelic approach to improvisation is central to all that he does, applied to everything from jazz to techno. This approach is remarkable to witness in his live performances or on his critically acclaimed records with DARKSIDE.
Aaron Gilbert Steele is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, writer and producer, having collaborated/worked with artists like Harry Styles, Leon Bridges, Hayley Williams, and many others. Born to Panamanian immigrant parents in the Bronx and raised on African American gospel and latinx songs, his exposure to genre-spanning, culturally diverse records shaped his love of music. When he's not sitting in on intimate gatherings with some of LA's finest musicians, he's touring internationally with Foster The People.
The music of multi-instrumentalist Spencer Zahn is marked by openness — spacious sonic landscapes, rich with contributions from his creative community. A renowned collaborator and touring bassist for artists like Empress Of, Twin Shadow, Dave Harrington, Kimbra and Half Waif, Spencer's solo material fuses his jazz upbringing with the more experimental paradigms of pop music. Combining lush electronics with delicate organic textures, Spencer's instrumental arrangements undulate along waves of jazz, ambient pop, Americana, and neo-classical.
Living Earth is a solar-powered & Grammy-nominated outdoor arts series that works in conversation with conservation organizations, public parks, gardens, unique land projects, and cultural institutions to gather peoples of all ages to explore Tovaangar / Los Angeles (and beyond) through live performances, workshops, and transformative outdoor adventures.
Solarc is a microbrewery/tea house/event space located in north east Los Angeles that creates thought-provoking beverages and experiences by embracing alternative ingredients in beers, wines, and teas while nurturing a community of experimental music makers and open minded humans.
