Car Chase Ends In San Gabriel Valley; Stolen SUV Driver Arrested

Two suspects were arrested following a police pursuit across the Los Angeles freeways. Did you see the chase?

LA VERNE, CA — A nearly three hour long car chase across the Los Angeles Freeways ended as abruptly as it began, Monday. A driver and at least one passenger were taken into custody on the 210 Freeway, which was at full SIGAlert at the time of the arrest.

The suspect reportedly stole a dark colored Ford extended cab truck with a full cover that was towing a small equipment trailer on Monday afternoon near Rancho Cucamonga according to police reports. That truck and trailer was driven across the I-10 San Bernardino freeway toward downtown Los Angeles before returning back to San Gabriel Valley.

California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's, Los Angeles County Sheriff's, Pasadena Police and other agencies were all involved in this vehicle chase. Media reports reported that the driver threatened "suicide by cop," however the pursuit ended peacefully with the suspect showing he was unarmed before awaiting arrest by officers with guns drawn.

The pursuit went on for over 2 hours, the vehicle followed by officials, in and out of Pasadena 2:30 p.m. and back onto the 210 freeway where the chase came to a quick end. The driver pulled over in the Arcadia area when the driver exited the vehicle, arms raised, and was peacefully taken into custody.

San Bernardino police officers pursued the stolen vehicle and two suspects inside across multiple freeways from the San Bernardino I-10 freeway, through San Gabriel Valley and into Los Angeles then back toward the SGV.

The truck hauling a small trailer was reported stolen out of Pico Rivera. San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies began chasing the Ford pickup with a shell about 12:45 p.m. in Rancho Cucamonga and California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit as the suspect head west into Los Angeles County.

There was no reason given for the vehicle theft, and the trailer was full of clothes and personal items according to police.
