Claremont DUI Arrests Up Across San Gabriel Valley, CHP Says
DUI arrests were up across San Gabriel Valley, LA and Orange County this Christmas holiday weekend, according to California Highway Patrol.

CLAREMONT, CA — Christmas weekend saw drivers in San Gabriel Valley driving under the influence according to California Highway Patrol. Slightly more drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence compared to last year.
One person was killed on Los Angeles County highways in a DUI related crash during the first 60 hours of this Christmas holiday period, the California Highway Patrol said Monday. The lone fatality was the death of a man, approximately 50 years old, at about 5:45 a.m. Monday on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Rosemead, the CHP reported.
In Los Angeles County, there were 148 arrests, up from last year's total of 87.

In Orange County, California Highway Patrol officers arrested 39 individuals suspected of driving under the influence during the Christmas holiday compared with 24 in 2016. DUI fatalities were also up, with two reported in 2017 compared with none the previous year.
The reporting period began at 6:01 p.m. Friday and concluded Monday at 6 a.m. During that same time period last year, there were two deaths on Los Angeles County highways.

Statewide, there were 11 fatalities on California highways, down from last year's total of 20.
Also across the golden state, the CHP arrested 790 motorists on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, up from last year's total of 535.
Expect more sobriety check points and task forces on patrol this coming Friday, for the New Year's Eve weekend.
