Claremont Flood Advisory This Weekend
Heavy rain, wind expected from a storm sweeping into southern California this weekend, NWS said.

CLAREMONT, CA — A flash flood watch is in effect for much of Los Angeles County from Friday morning through Saturday morning according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has called for heavy rain Friday through early Saturday.

"A strong storm system tapping into deep subtropical moisture will generate periods of moderate to heavy rain late this week into the weekend," the NWS said.
The first wave of rain will move into Los Angeles county Thursday night, according to the NWS. The second wave will arrive Friday morning, focusing its energy on the south facing slopes across Los Angeles county.

"Strong southerly winds combined with ample moisture will lead to periods of very heavy rain with rain rates of up to one-inch per hour," NWS said.
Rainfall should taper off Saturday morning, with the flash flood threats ending around noon, the NWS said. Scattered showers are possible through Saturday evening.
The Flash Flood watch for Los Angeles County includes the south facing slopes of The San Gabriel Mountains.
"Periods of moderate to heavy rain, with rain totals of up to one-inch per hour, and two to four inches of rain expected, four to eight inches of rain expected in the foothills and mountains," the NWS said.
Areas that have recently burned are urged to take necessary steps to protect property. Flooding and debris flows will be a particular threat in those areas. Please follow the directions of emergency officials.
