CLAREMONT, CA —On the day of the Great Shakeout, local drivers were reminded that it might be best to top off that tank as part of your emergency preparedness. That being said, it's a good time to do so.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent Thursday to $3.056, one day after decreasing one-tenth of a cent.

The average price is at its lowest amount since Aug. 30 -- eight-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 12.2 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, it is 21.4 cents more than one year ago.
