Claremont: Hughes Center Will Be Open This Weekend As Cooling Center

Transportation will be available through PVTA to take participants to the Cool Zone.

With high temperatures expected this weekend, the Alexander Hughes Community Center will serve as a Cooling Center from Saturday, September 5, through Monday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Hughes Center is located at 1700 Danbury Road and the Cooling Center will be located in the Padua Room. To preserve health and safety, all individuals are required to wear a facial covering for the entirety of their visit and will be required to practice social distancing. City staff has also increased their sanitation practices of the facility. Please supply your own water, snacks, or leisure activities.

Transportation will be available through PVTA to take participants to the Cool Zone. If participants go to either Joslyn Center or the Blaisdell Center, they can be transported to the Alexander Hughes Cooling Center. To schedule a ride, call PVTA at (909) 596-7664 (dial option 2 for Claremont Dial-A-Ride) 45-minutes prior to your desired departure time.
