You may ask as a property owner, what are my responsibilities to care for the City tree?

Below is a list of some duties as a property owner:

The most important responsibility of a property owner is to adequately water the tree

Remove and dispose of all fallen leaves, palm fronds, and other deadfall from any City tree in the appropriate waste receptacle

Palm fronds are to be placed in the trash receptacle

Other tree debris should be placed in the green waste container

Avoid using bricks, cement, rocks, and plastic weed barriers around the base of trees

Acceptable materials include: mulch, wood chips, and chunk bark

Remove any ivy or other vines from growing on city trees

Do not affix anything to a City tree, including swings or lights

Notify the Community Services Division of any suspected tree hazards or maintenance needs of any City tree on your property

Duties that are the City’s responsibility:

All trimming activities

Removal

Fertilization

Treatment for pests or disease
