Claremont Officer Punched, Man Arrested: Police
Police said the assailant attempted to run away from an officer.

CLAREMONT, CA — A man was arrested in Claremont early Tuesday morning after a police officer was punched in the face, police said.
The unidentified officer received minor injuries to his face, police said.
The unidentified man was arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest, police said.

The man is in custody in Claremont City Jail.
Another officer used a stun gun on the unidentified man before he was taken into custody, police said.

Police said a man was walking in the middle of Towne Avenue near Ridgefield Driver around 4 a.m. when the officer attempted to get the man to stop. He refused and ran away from the officer, police said.
Police accused the man of tossing something over a wall and into the backyard of a house, police said. Police suspect the items were illegal drugs.
The officer wrestled with the assailant in the middle of the road. A second officer arrived and used his stun gun on him.
