Claremont Police Arrest Pomona Man in Brown Drive Shooting

A detective says police are still searching for other suspects.

A detective for the Claremont Police Department has confirmed that a Pomona man was arrested in connection with a shooting on Brown Drive early Tuesday morning that left the victim with gunshot wounds to the shoulder, neck and head.

George Warthan, 49, was arrested yesterday at about 5 p.m. in Claremont, Det. David Demetz said.

Demetz couldn't give the location of the arrest, as the investigation of the shooting is still ongoing. He also couldn't say whether Warthan was the shooter or what his relationship to the victim was.

However, the detective did say that there still may be more suspects involved in this shooting.

The victim, who remains unidentified, was in good condition as of yesterday after police took him to Doctor's Hospital Medical Center in Montclair yesterday.

Police were called to the scene on the 100 block of Brown Drive off of Mills Road at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and found the victim on the street.
