Claremont Residential Organic Recycling Pilot Program
The City Council recently approved an Organic Recycling Pilot Program for select residential customers.
January 14, 2021
The City Council recently approved an Organic Recycling Pilot Program for select residential customers. Recycling food and organic waste helps to reduce harmful methane emissions that contribute to global warming, and is consistent with the goals of the Sustainable City Plan. The pilot program will allow select customers to place food waste in their green container for composting. One route has been identified each service day, Monday through Thursday, to participate in the program. The routes were selected based upon their clearly defined boundaries, staff’s ability to collect a full route of organic waste within one truckload, and an effort to select a representative sample from various areas of the community.
