Claremont Squeaks Past Covina on Last Second Field Goal 17-14
Covina keeps Claremont scoreless in the third quarter, but Jacob Olesniewicz's 43-yard field goal wins it with seconds remaining in the game
COVINA – Jacob Olesniewicz’s 43-yard field goal with seconds remaining proved to be the winner as the Claremont Wolfpack squeaked past the host Covina Colts Thursday night 17-14 at Covina District Field.
Duy Tran-Samson led the way for the Wolfpack, running for 134 yards on 23 carries.
Claremont took the ball on its initial drive and marched down the field 73 yards, culminating in Laquamie Bond’s 26-yard scoring run with 8:52 remaining in the first quarter to take the early 7-0 lead.

Claremont would once again score in the second quarter, as Damien Cannon ran one in from a yard out with 6:48 remaining in the second quarter.
Covina would not go away, however, shutting out the Wolfpack in the third quarter while scoring twice to tie the score 14-14 heading into the final stanza.

Michael Roberts scored from one yard out, and then Colts quarterback Andrew Apodaca broke a 47-yard run, and then handed off to Eric Williams to convert the 2-point conversion.
Covina had the ball at the 29 and had a chance to go for the win, but Bond intercepted an Apodaca pass which ended Covina’s scoring chance and gave Claremont one final shot at the win.
Tran-Samson, who sat out most of the fourth period, ran on five consecutive possessions during the final drive to set up Olesniwicz’s heroics.
Claremont (3-0) hosts rivals Damien next Friday night. Kickoff is at 7pm
