Claremont Trails Are Now Open
City staff and Park Rangers will be monitoring the trails and trailheads and will be enforcing the safety protocols.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 Los Angeles County announced the easing of the Safer at Home Order and the phased reopening of some businesses and trails.

In coordination with the opening of the County’s trails, the City reopened the Thompson Creek Trail on Saturday, May 9 and the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park on Monday, May 11.
Visitors to the trails will be expected to practice safe physical distancing, refrain from visiting if exhibiting symptoms, and wear a mask. Hikers will be directed to walk, run, and ride in one direction on the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park five mile loop. The parking lots for the Wilderness Park will be open and parking permits will be enforced.

City staff and Park Rangers will be monitoring the trails and trailheads and will be enforcing the safety protocols. Hikers and walkers are encouraged to bring plenty of water with them, as water fountains will be closed. Restrooms will be available at Higginbotham Park for the Thompson Creek Trail and at the lower level of the Wilderness Park loop. The porta-potties on the higher level of the loop will be closed. Additional hand sanitation stations will be placed at the entrance of the loop.
