Crash on 210 Freeway Injures Seven, Shuts Down Lanes

The crash took place just east of Huntington on the westbound 210 Freeway just after 5 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

A two-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Monrovia Saturday sent seven people to hospitals, including a family of five, and temporarily shut down freeway lanes.

The crash took place just east of Huntington on the westbound 210 Freeway just after 5 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

Two people were reported as unconscious at the scene, Kimball said.

Initial reports from witnesses indicated that one of the two vehicles was going more than 100 miles per hour before it swerved to avoid a disabled car and crashed, according to CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.

A total of seven people were hospitalized. Among the injured were a family including a mother, father and three children. Their conditions were unknown, Jacobs said.

The crash shut down all westbound lanes and a SigAlert was declared at 6:10 a.m., Kimball said. All lanes were cleared at 6:38 a.m., he added.

The crash remained under investigation.
