Deputies Arrest Another Burglary Suspect in Chino Hills

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s have arrested a man they suspect broke into a Chino Hills home on Thursday.

Juan Pablo Gonzalez, 25, of Los Angeles is suspected in a number of burglaries in Chino Hills and in the surrounding area, Sheriff’s officials said. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

A report of a burglary in progress led to the arrest. Deputies were dispatched at 8:51 p.m. April 18, to a home in the 2200 block of Scenic Ridge Drive in Chino Hills. A resident reported to police they heard voices and saw flashlight beams inside the home, according to a sheriff’s crime alert.

Responding deputies determined the intruder had fled out the rear of the residence leaving a trail of stolen property behind him, according to the alert.

Deputies used the Sheriff’s helicopter and a Pomona Police Department K-9 unit to search the area, officials said.

Gonzalez was spotted walking along a street behind the home that had been broken into and was stopped and questioned. Deputies said he had burglary tools and stolen property on him.

He has since been linked to two additional burglaries in the same neighborhood on the Pomona side, officials said.

A vehicle officials say was used by Gonzalez’ was also found. A search of that vehicle turned up several thousand dollars worth of stolen property, including electronics, purses and jewelry, officials said.

The arrest is one of several made recently. A string of burglaries have struck Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Claremont, and La Verne over the past few months.

On April 10, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s, in partnership with Claremont Police and other neighboring agencies, encouraged residents to attend a stolen property viewing event. That even featured items recovered from several burglaries including property taken from at least one Claremont home.
