
2013 Land of Enlightened Wisdom Teaching Program will begin the second week of January. Land of Enlightened Wisdom is a Tibetan Buddhist dharma center in Pomona, California established in May of 2010. Geshe Tenzin Sherap, the spiritual director at Land of Enlightened Wisdom is fully qualified to bestow teaching in the Buddha Dharma, both sutra and tantra.
Geshe Tenzin Sherap was born in 1964 at the refugee’s camp established in North India shortly after the Tibetan uprising in 1959. He had refugee status in India while attending school at the Tibetan Monasteries established in India by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He entered the monastery at the age of 14 years old and received the Geshe Lharam Degree in 1999, a supremely high form of recognition within Tibetan Buddhism. Now since 2003, he has taught western students in the United States and is known for his great sense of humor, personal warmth, and his enthusiasm to teach students who are eager to learn the Buddha Dharma.
During his years in the monastery, Geshe Sherap received extensive teachings, initiations, and guidance from many great masters of this time including H.H. Dalai Lama, Late Ling Rinpoche, Song Rinpoche and many teachers.
On Saturday mornings, beginning January 12, 2012 at 10:30am, Geshe Sherap will start the Beginning Level Program. This program is designed for students interested in learning the basic concepts, principles and practices of Tibetan Buddhism. The Four Noble Truths, Three Principle Paths and Twelve Links of Dependent Origination are some of the topics presented.
On Sunday afternoons, beginning January 13, 2012 at 2:00pm, A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life by Shativdeva, Chapter 8 - Meditation, Chapter 6 - Patience, and Chapter 9 - Wisdom will be taught by Geshe Sherap. This great work was composed by Shantideva, an eighth century Buddhist master at the monastery of Nalanda in northern India. In the whole of the.Tibetan Buddhist tradition there is no single treatise more deeply revered or widely practiced.
