Fire Damages Home Under Renovations In Nearby Pomona

BREAKING: Witnesses told officials the blaze was caused by fireworks on roof, but cause is still under investigation, agency said.

POMONA, CA – A fire damaged a Pomona home that was under renovation and unoccupied, authorities said Tuesday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which was reported at 11:15 p.m. Monday at 266 E. 11th St., according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. About 30 firefighters knocked down the flames in 15 minutes, he said.

Witness statements indicated that the roof caught fire due to fireworks. However the residence was being renovated and a possible electrical short may have been the cause of the blaze, according to Pomona police Lt. Marcus Perez.
