Here are five things Claremont and La Verne residents need to know today.
1. Claremont council members plan to host a Neighborhood Forum tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the City Yard. Residents will be able to raise concerns and ask questions. The two council members will give updates on city projects.
2. Claremont police are investigating a break-in at a local home, and say that the suspected robber may be linked to more crimes. The man who was arrested Monday apparently did construction on the home, and police are checking with other homeowners he worked for.
3. The city of La Verne is accepting applications for a vacancy on the City Council. The deadline to apply for the post is 5 p.m. Aug. 7. The council will make the appointment Aug. 19. Visit the city's website for more information.
4. The Claremont Public Library will host Tuesday Game Day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event features new and classic board games that teens can play. Refreshments will be served. For more information, visit the library's website.
5. The Police Department will host Movies in the Park this summer at neighborhood parks throughout the City, according to City Manager Tony Ramos' weekly update. Family-friendly movies will be shown on Tuesday evenings at dusk. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back lawn chairs for seating. Visit the city's website for more information.
