Claremont-based law firm Shernoff Bidart Echeverria and Bentley are representing the city of Upland in a claim against Independent Cities Risk Management Authority and Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania, who they claim refused to defend Upland in the indemnity case involving San Bernardino County and the 2004 Colonies Lawsuit. Claremont College’s professors are always tapped for their expertise. More recently, Jack Pitney, professor of government at Claremont McKenna College, spoke to Yahoo News about San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who is accused of sexual misconduct. Pitney compared Filner to President Bill Clinton. “When news of the Lewinsky affair broke, many people assumed that [Clinton] would have to quit. The University of La Verne is trying to inspire people to donate blood. Today, July 24, the American Red Cross will be in the President's Dining Room from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. collecting donations. Anyone who Logs onto the Red Cross site should enter the sponsor code "ULV" to schedule your appointment. As an incentive, people are being offered a Chili’s coupon for a free skillet appetizer. There were no tickets sold with all six numbers in tonight's drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery and the estimated jackpot for Friday's drawing will grow to $19 million. However, a winning ticket with five numbers, missing the Mega number, was sold at Norco Fueling and is worth $481,220, a California Lottery official announced. The numbers drawn tonight were 25, 32, 35, 50, 51 and the Mega number was 46. The estimated jackpot was $13 million.
