Former NFL Player Arrested, Charged With Kidnapping Girlfriend

La Verne cops arrested former NFL Player Brandon Browner, after he allegedly broke into a home, kidnapped then robbed his former girlfriend.

LA VERNE, CA — A former NFL player was arrested Sunday by La Verne police on suspicion of kidnapping, burglary, false imprisonment and violation of a restraining order in connection with an encounter that occurred earlier in the day.

La Verne police officers responded to a call shortly after 10 a.m. at an undisclosed home where Brandon Browner, 33, allegedly broke into the house and allegedly physically forced the woman back inside when she tried to flee. La Verne police could not be reached for comment.

Browner allegedly hurt the woman and made threats to kill her before fleeing the scene. In the process, he also allegedly stole a Rolex watch estimated at $20,000 before leaving the home.

Browner apparently had a previous relationship with the woman and been arrested in the past for domestic violence and was currently under a restraining order to stay away from the victim.

La Verne police finally tracked down Browner about 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and placed him in custody, officials said.

Browner played on two Super Bowl winning teams during his 11-year career, according to the NFL. The former cornerback played for the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints during his football career. On many sports websites, the question of whether CTE was to blame for his actions has been circling, though that claim remains to be verified.

Browner is currently being held in Men's Central Jail on $10 million bail, according to L.A. County Jail records. He is scheduled for a formal court appearance, Tuesday.
