Freeway Closure Expected to Snarl Traffic
Claremont residents who regularly use the the 60 Freeway are being warned that this weekend,

The third in a series of 55-hour weekend closures will affect some or all lanes of the Pomona (60) Freeway in Industry beginning tonight, potentially snarling traffic for motorists in the San Gabriel Valley.
Beginning at 10 p.m., three lanes of the eastbound 60 Freeway will be closed between Fullerton Road and Nogales Street. The Fullerton and Nogales onramps and offramps will be closed, as well as onramps from Hacienda Boulevard and Azusa Avenue.
The entire eastbound side of the freeway will be closed from 1 to 5 a.m. Saturday and Monday.

The closures -- dubbed "Summer Slam" by Caltrans -- will continue until 5 a.m. Monday.
The final "Summer Slam" closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. Aug. 23 to 5 a.m. Aug. 26, affecting two eastbound lanes of the freeway.

The project involves resurfacing the 60 Freeway between the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and the Orange (57) Freeway. It is scheduled for completion in late 2014.
