Get on Those Bicycle Folks, It's Bike Week

There are a number of activities taking place throughout the week for Bike Week which runs through May 17. One fun ride will he held Wednesday and starts in Claremont.

The city reminds its residents that Bike Week has begun and officially runs through May 17.

Locally it continues through May 18. City officials are encouraging residents to support local business by riding their bikes during the week to shop and run other errands around town on that final Saturday.

The Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition, or PVBC, has planned several regional events to take place during this week around Claremont. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, the PVBC will present a Community Bike Ride/Memorial Ride. Participants will get to ride along the Pacific Electric Trail to Route 66 Trailhead.

“This is a separated bike path and we will ride at a leisurely pace and make a stop at the 7-11 by the Trailhead,” ride organizers wrote in an announcement. “This is also a ride of Silence so please bring the names of those you would like to honor.”
