Harvard Square Cafe Shuts Its Doors
The restaurant was at 206 W. Bonita Avenue in Claremont.

Harvard Square Cafe, a staple in Claremont, closed its doors last week.
The restaurant, which served French inspired fare for brunch, lunch, and dinner, was at 206 W. Bonita Avenue.
“They were here for 21 years,” said Brian Desatnik, Director of Community Development for the city.

Some diners were surprised that the restaurant shut down.
“It was a tranquil place to eat,” said Consuelo Lopez. “I enjoyed dining out on their patio. It was a dog-friendly environment, so I could take my German Shepherd Enya for a walk through the Village and then grab a bite to eat at Harvard Square.”

The cafe’s website has not been updated with any information about the reasons for the closure, and the phone number has already been disconnected.
With its prime real estate in the heart of the Village, Desatnik is certain the location won’t be empty for long.
“There’s some turnover downtown, but vacancies don’t last very long,” he said. “It just closed, but I would fully expect another restaurant will go in at some point.”
