Human Remains Discovered in Claremont Near I-10

The Los Angeles County Coroner is working to determine the identity of the remains that were discovered Monday at a Claremont I-10 onramp.

CLAREMONT, CA — Human remains were found Monday near an on-ramp to the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Claremont. The remains were discovered by a group of workers conducting roadside cleanup near the Indian Hill Boulevard on-ramp to the freeway.

California Highway Patrol notified the Claremont police just before 12:30 p.m. once CHP confirmed the bones were human.

"Officers and detectives responded to the scene, cordoned off the area and requested the assistance of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Claremont Police Department Lt. Mike Ciszek said.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office removed the remains from the scene, according to Ciszek.

The cause of death, sex and identity of the victim were pending analysis by the coroner's office.
