LA County Cancels HHW Roundups

This includes the HHW Roundup that was scheduled to occur at the Claremont City Yard on Saturday, February 6.

Due to COVID-19, Los Angeles County recently announced that all scheduled Household Hazardous Waste Roundups are cancelled through mid-March. This includes the HHW Roundup that was scheduled to occur at the Claremont City Yard on Saturday, February 6. Residents looking to dispose of HHW and e-waste and encouraged to check into the following local programs:

The City offers free electronic waste collection program to all Claremont residents, so there is no need to wait for a county roundup to dispose of e-waste. Please call or text Greenway Solid Waste & Recycling at (909) 518-7943 to schedule a pickup.

The City offers a free, curbside used motor oil collection program. The City will provide collection containers and collect used oil and filters at no cost. Please contact the Community Services Department at (909) 399-5431 to schedule a pickup.

The Claremont Police Station offers a free drug-take back program for medications. Residents can schedule an appointment by contacting the Police Department at (909) 399-5411.

The Claremont Helen Renwick Library accepts household batteries. Please contact the library at (909) 621-4902 for program details.

The Lowes Home Improvement located on Foothill Boulevard in Upland typically accepts household batteries at their customer service desk, such as AAA, AA, C, and D batteries. Please contact the store to confirm program details.

Home Depot and IKEA stores offer retail takeback programs for some compact fluorescent lights (CLFs), excluding long / oversized bulbs. Please contact the store to confirm program details.

Many paint retailers, such as Sherwin Williams, will accept used paint. To find local facilities that accept used paint, please visit www.paintcare.org.
