La Verne House Fire Spreads to Nearby Bushes, 50 Acres Charred

LA VERNE, CA - A house fire spread to some brush in an unincorporated area near La Verne on Thursday, but the flames were knocked down and no injuries were reported.
The fire broke out about 5:45 p.m. in the 6300 block of Stephens Ranch Road near Camp Afflerbaugh-Paige High School, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
County fire crews backed by water-dropping helicopters responded along with firefighters from the La Verne Fire Department and the blaze was knocked down in 58 minutes, authorities said.

About 50 square feet of brush was scorched.
