MCS Will Present OpenTech L.A. Apprenticeship Program to Organization Dedicated to Understanding and Effectively Managing Information Technology

Los Angeles, CA – On February 4, 2016 Managed Career Solutions (MCS) will present the OpenTech L.A. apprenticeship program to UCLA’s IS Associates at the 2016 Anderson Economic Forecast. The event will take place in the UCLA Faculty Center’s California Room from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. IS Associates is a professional partnership between UCLA Anderson School of Management, corporate and governmental enterprises that promotes awareness of the latest IT leadership and management trends. It provides a management education forum to its membership, which is open to organizations involved in the professional application of information systems to business and research. The organization includes senior executives, leading consultants and suppliers, government, and UCLA faculty, staff and students in a program of information-sharing and research.

OpenTech L.A. is a partnership between MCS, the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and the County of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board. It offers customized and accelerated training programs in Information Technology and Biotechnology to at-risk youth, women, veterans, and other underrepresented populations throughout the Los Angeles region. The program will scale and expand with partnerships in Baltimore, Detroit, and St. Louis. MCS was recently awarded with a $2.9 million grant over a five year period from the President Obama administration for its role in leading OpenTech L.A.

The UCLA Anderson Forecast has provided annual forecasts for the economies of California and the United States for over 60 years, as well as insight to decision makers in business, technology, academics and government. Current forecast director Edward E. Leamer, along with economists Jerry Nickelsburg and David Shulman, work to combine their own expertise with the latest computer based econometric models. This team has also begun providing regional forecasts for Los Angeles, Orange County, and other local regional economies.
