Oktoberfest 2021 Is On In Montrose, No-Go This Year At Fairplex

No German fest 2021 in Pomona, but you still can chicken-dance this year at Montrose's annual extravaganza & other Southland locales.

SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA — Dust off your lederhosen and dirndl— Oktoberfests are back this fall!

For the second year in a row, there will be no 2021 Oktoberfest extravaganza at the Pomona Fairplex, but German-inspired festivities will go on — with beer, brats and oom-pah bands —in Montrose and other venues this year throughout Southern California.

The beloved, Bavarian fest at the Fairplex complex was scrapped in 2020 due to pandemic-related concerns, and no Oktoberfest is planned for 2021, as the venue gradually opens up to events.

"Unfortunately, we will not have an Oktoberfest event this year," said Fairplex spokesperson Renee Hernandez.

But those craving a Bavarian boost of biergartens, bratwurst, chicken-dancing, polkas, strudel and more have options ... including in Montrose!

Montrose also canceled its 2020 Oktoberfest due to the pandemic. But this year, the town will host its 43rd annual Oktoberfest Oct. 2, complete with carnival rides, contests, German food, beer and games. The free event will run 12 pm. to 10 p.m. on Honolulu Avenue.

For die-hard Oktoberfest fans, there also are other events on September and October calendars throughout Southern California:
