Local leaders are hosting a special workshop geared towards helping senior citizens avoid scam artists. The seminar is free, but space is limited.

Local lawmakers are planning a special workshop for senior citizens to help them fight back against potential scammers.
"Fight Back!" the event announcement states. "Learn from the experts how to protect yourself and loved ones from scams in home repair, identify theft, mail, auto repair, insurance, and more."
Sponsored by State Senator Carol Liu (D- La Canada Flintridge), Assemblymember Chris Holden (D-Pasadena) and the California Contractors License Board, the event will present ways in which you can "avoid scams and what to do if you've been ripped off." It's targeted towards seniors, their families and caregivers.
Though the event isn't scheduled to take place until Oct. 15, organizers are asking interested participants to sign up as soon as possible.
