Solid Ground Church in Rancho Cucamonga to host June 25 Job Fair

Rancho Cucamonga church to host employers looking to hire at free June 25 event

The unemployment rate in California decreased to 6.3 percent in April, and the state has gained 1,890,900 jobs since the economic recovery began in February 2010, according to a May report by the California Employment Development Department.

Yet there are many Californians still unsure where to find a job.

Solid Ground Church in Rancho Cucamonga is playing a part in making the process easier by hosting a job fair on Thursday, June 25, at 9974 19th Street in Rancho Cucamonga.

“Here at Solid Ground, we believe we have been placed within this community to serve and care for our neighbors,” said Solid Ground Church Pastor Bob Beaty. “Any way that we can partner with people to see purpose, hope and restoration become reality speaks to the heart of what God wants for everyone. Partnering with job seekers is one more way to provide opportunity for our neighbors to know God’s love and provision through work and employment.”

Solid Ground Church is expected to host more than 40 employers looking to fill authentic positions ranging from entry-level jobs for high school and college graduates to positions for experienced professionals and military veterans.

Leading companies, government organizations, staffing agencies, nonprofit organizations and other businesses representing a diverse range of industries will be interviewing for positions in accounting, administration, clerical, customer service, education, financial services, health care, nursing, law enforcement, management, manufacturing, non-profit, sales, transportation and more. Along with organizations that are actively hiring, the job fair will also feature various employment resources and higher educational opportunities.

The free event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Solid Ground Church, during which time attendees will have the opportunity to meet, network and interview with representatives with all participating organizations. To register, visit www.sgbic.com/job-fair or call (909) 989-3119.

A separate free pre-fair resume writing and interviewing workshop on Thursday, June 18, is also available for job seekers wanting to take better control of their future employment prospects. The workshop will help participants prepare in advance to handle common interview questions, learn how to update resumes, dress for success and discover what to expect during the job-hunting process.

Presented by Devry Institute, the workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Solid Ground Church. Only those attending the workshop will be given a priority “fast pass” for prompt entry into the June 9 job fair. To register, visit www.sgbic.com/job-fair.

Job growth is particularly strong in the Inland Empire, where more than 50,000 new jobs have been added in each of the past three years, according to the California Employment Development Department.

Church Job Fairs, an organization partnering with Solid Ground Church in presenting the job fair, is also working with other churches throughout Southern California to put on similar events. For more information and a schedule of upcoming job fairs, visit www.churchjobfairs.org.
