Speeding May be Behind West Covina SIG Alert

Witnesses reported seeing a male driver speeding on the westbound I-10 when it appeared to lose control and overturn.

A SIG alert was issued late Saturday on Interstate 10 in West Covina, but has since been lifted, following a crash that injured at least one person.

The collision was reported at 10:47 p.m. west of Via Verde, according to California Highway Patrol records. Witnesses reported seeing a male driver speeding on the westbound I-10 when it appeared to lose control and overturn.

Preliminary reports indicate the speeding vehicle struck other vehicles on the freeway. All lanes of traffic were blocked for brief period of time. One person was reportedly out of their vehicle and possibly hysterical, according to witness reports. CHP officers were investigating if some of those involved in the crash had fled.
