Suspected Sexual Predator Caught After Anonymous Tip In Claremont

An anonymous tip led to uncovering and arresting a suspected sexual predator in Claremont.

CLAREMONT, CA — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a 53-year-old Claremont man suspected of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl, according to the Claremont Police Department.

"On November 23rd, Claremont Police Department received an anonymous tip regarding (the sexual relationship)," Claremont Police Department Sgt. Lt. Jason Walters said in recent release. "The investigation revealed that the adult suspect had sexual encounters with the minor on prior occasions and agreed to meet the minor at a location in Claremont for his continued sexual pleasures."

At his next "meeting" with the girl, the suspect got a little more than he bargained for, according to Walters.

"On November 25th at approximately 10 p.m., when the suspect arrived at the meet point, rather than meeting up with the 16-year-old girl, he was met by Claremont Police Officers who took him into custody," Walters said.

Jon Crittenden, a Claremont resident, was arrested for contacting a minor for sex, having sex with a minor, and oral copulation with a minor, and booked at CPD and later released after posting the $50,000 bail. His arraignment date is scheduled for January 29th, 2018 at Pomona Superior Court.
