Thanksgiving Spirit Arrives Early

Thanksgiving spirit was already in the air in La Verne on Wednesday, as volunteers from the Christ Church of the Valley in San Dimas served free turkey dinners to needy people at the headquarters for Sowing Seeds for Life at 1350 Arrow Highway.

The occasion was one of the twice-a-month regularly scheduled food pantry giveaways put on by Sowing Seeds for Life, a regional food bank that provides food and services to some 6,000 people per month in the East San Gabriel Valley.

Sowing Seeds for Life is one of the eight sites where free turkey dinners are being provided by the Christ Church of Valley over a two-day span until 3:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, according Michael Colasuonno, the church’s site manager.

Any leftover food will be distributed to people in a low-income housing site in Pomona, Colasuonno said.
