Upland Community Partnership completes successful fundraiser for neighborhood-based after-school programs

Contributions will help fund neighborhood-based after-school programs for children from kindergarten to 6th grade

Upland, CA – The Upland Community Partnership for Youth Development, founded by Upland resident and Upland Unified School District Board Member Linda Angona, raised approximately $15,000 at its Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser Saturday night – money that will help fund neighborhood-based after-school programs for children from kindergarten to 6th grade.

The event, at the Gibson Senior Center in Upland, attracted business, school and community leaders, elected officials and regional stakeholders.

In collaboration with the Upland Unified School District, the Upland Police Department, the Upland Interfaith Council and the Upland Recreation Department, the Upland Community Partnership provides a safe environment and challenging activities at two sites after school. The nonprofit organization relies heavily on contributions through fundraising events such as the Spaghetti Dinner.

Research has shown that students with adult supervision after school hours are far more likely to succeed academically and in life.

“The Upland Community Partnership is a critically important institution in our community, and underscores the importance of stakeholders coming together for the benefit of our children,” said Angona.
