Upland Unified School District replaces and upgrades its CNG Fuel Station
The District-owned and operated CNG vehicle fueling facility supports the District's existing CNG-fueled vehicle fleet
Upland, CA – Upland Unified School District announces the completion of the newly renovated CNG Fuel Station located at 1428 W. 9th St., Upland.
The District-owned and operated CNG vehicle fueling facility was in need of equipment replacement and upgrades in order to support the District’s existing CNG-fueled vehicle fleet. Increasing demand for clean fuel and improved air quality was quickly outstripping the District’s ability to meet that demand. Without the upgrades to the CNG fueling infrastructure, the District would not have been able to adequately fuel its CNG fleet.
The gradual failure of compressors over the years had a negative impact on the District’s transportation program due to frequent system failures. The new and upgraded equipment will increase the station’s efficiency and allow the District to begin replacing petroleum-fueled vehicles with additional CNG vehicles.

The District now has nine CNG buses – 50 percent of its total fleet. This includes the replacement of six gross-polluting diesel buses during the past two years with six CNG-fueled buses. Annual tailpipe emission reductions of the 6 gross polluting diesel buses equate to approximately 27,500 Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (GGE), displacing 24,300 lbs. of PM2.5, and 35,640 lbs. of NOx.
Construction was provided by ALLSUP Corporation, Inc. The total construction cost was $549,700 and funded by the Mobile Source Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) and Upland Unified School District.
