2 Dead In Crash On Port Chicago Highway: Concord Police
A car crashed into a light pole, killing the driver and the passenger, police said.
CONCORD, CA — A second person has now died in connection with a car crash early Monday morning in Concord, police said.
The fatal incident was reported around 1:45 a.m. on Port Chicago Highway.
"Officers were dispatched to a solo vehicle (into a light pole) collision that occurred on N/B Port Chicago Highway, near High School Avenue," Concord police officer M. Ghaznawi said in a statement from the Concord Police Department.

The front passenger, a 51-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Monday afternoon, police said the driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Northbound Port Chicago Highway was closed for three hours between High School Avenue and North Sixth Street as a result of the crash.
Pending notification of their family members, the identities of the deceased will be released by the Contra Costa County coroner's office.
The collision remained under investigation Monday; police asked any witnesses to contact Officer Wilson at 925-603-5962.
