1 Injured In Christmas Day Shooting On Highway 4: CHP

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting reported Christmas Day on state Highway 4 in Concord. A Pittsburg man in his mid-20s told authorities it was around 7:15 p.m. Dec. 25 when his black Nissan Altima was struck by gunfire as he was driving eastbound on Highway 4 from northbound state Highway 242.

According to the CHP, the man, who was alone in his car, suffered minor injuries to his hand and shoulder, possibly as a result of debris or shrapnel caused by the gunfire.

"The victim driver indicated that after hearing the gunfire, he observed a suspect shooting at him from the left rear window of an unknown sedan," CHP Contra Costa Area officials said.

The CHP-Golden Gate Division Investigative Services Unit located the victim and his car, but as of Monday morning had no leads on the suspect vehicle or the suspect.
