The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

Hi, all. I'm back with your new copy of the Concord Daily, fresh off the presses. Let's get this Wednesday started off right with a quick review of everything you need to know about what's happening in town, including updates on...
- Got 'em! Police have apprehended the second suspect in the Oak Park shooting incident that happened after a high school football game in Pleasant Hill on September 9.
- There was a mess in Pittsburg when an illegally dumped box of construction materials caused a crash that sent one person to the hospital.
- Purple Haze headlines the final Music and Market of the season.
But first, today's weather:
Plenty of sunshine. High: 81 Low: 57.
Here are the top stories today in Concord:
- Oakley Police arrested a Concord man on Sunday on suspicion of robbery of a convenience store, as well as suspicion of vehicle theft. Police were dispatched to the new AM/PM on Laurel Road in Oakley. They arrived within a minute of receiving the call. The victim told police that a man had held him up at gunpoint and gotten away with cash and cigarettes. Oakley Police put out a description of the vehicle and Antioch Police located the vehicle on Highway 4 and began pursuit. The suspect crashed the vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody. Police determined that the vehicle he was driving had been carjacked the previous day in Antioch. Johnathan Bordelon was was arrested and the stolen property and the firearm were recovered. - Both of the men who were accused of shooting a firearm in the direction of a group of Pleasant Hill minors at Pleasant Oaks Park on September 9 have now been arrested. Police arrested Saul Jimenez, of Antioch, on September 11, but the other man, Alexander Martinezcurena, of Pittsburg remained at large. On September 26, police were able to apprehend Martinezcurena. Both men are currently in custody on multiple federal firearms charges. Jimenez has bail set at $680,000 and Martinezcurena has not had bail set, yet. (Claycord.com)
- Each year Congressional Rep. Mike Thompson names "above and beyond" first responders from his district. This year, Thompson has chosen Martinez police Sgt. Zach Lekse and Crockett-Carquinez Fire Captain John Angell as the Contra Costa County Public Safety Heroes. According to Claycord.com, "Over several months, Lekse worked with the FBI to lead a massive multi-agency effort that led to the seizure of numerous firearms, approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine, $23,000 in cash and $80,000 of assets." Captain Angell, through keen observation and compassion, was able to talk a potential suicide victim into walking away from the side of a bridge. He had stopped on the way to a call because he thought it looked like this victim needed his attention immediately. According to the congressman's statement, "Captain Angell spoke to the individual, comforted them, and talked them away from the edge. When authorities arrived, he returned to his original call." - If you're headed to Danville early on October 9, be ready for a detour or two. From the Town of Danville: "Motorists are advised that several residential streets will be temporarily closed for the annual San Ramon Valley Education Foundation's Run for Education in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 9, 2022." The race gets underway at 8:00 a.m. and the expectation is that roads will be reopened by 8:45 a.m. (News 24/680)
- On Tuesday, somebody illegally dumped a box of construction material on the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway near Loveridge Road in the City of Pittsburg, causing a bus and a car to collide while trying to avoid the box. A passenger on the bus was taken to the hospital as a result of the collision. Their condition is unknown. (East County Today)
