3 Arrested During Concord DUI Checkpoint

CONCORD, CA— Three people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint Saturday night in Concord, police said.
During the checkpoint which was held from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Monument Boulevard and Erickson Drive, officers contacted 762 vehicles and arrested three drivers on suspicion of DUI.
"Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests," Concord police Officer Shaun Parsley said in a news release. "The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired."

The Concord Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling, Parsley said.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
