AC Transit Board Appoints Interim General Manager

The previous GM resigned suddenly at the end of March.

Alameda-Contra Costa Transit’s board of directors has appointed Kathleen Kelly to serve as the bus agency’s interim general manager while the board conducts a national search for a permanent leader, the agency announced today.

Kelly will begin her duties on Monday and will replace David Armijo, who resigned suddenly on March 26 after three years on the job.

Jim Pachan, AC Transit’s chief operations officer, has been serving as temporary general manager since Armijo resigned. Kelly formerly served as the bus agency’s chief of operations and also worked as its planning director and budget director.

AC Transit board president Chris Peeples said in a statement, “We are very lucky to get such an experienced and well-respected transit professional who already knows most of the people who work for this agency.”

AC Transit officials said they expect Kelly to serve as their interim general manager for about six months while helping the board and its executive search firm in finding a new permanent general manager.
