🌱Alexis Gabe Police Video Released + 511 Summer Bike Challenge

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Concord.

(Patch Media)

Hey, neighbors. It's Monday in Concord and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening locally. Here we go.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and warmer. High: 84 Low: 56.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Concord who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Concord Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top four stories today in Concord:

  1. In honor of Pride Month the cities of Concord and Clayton raised the rainbow flag. In Concord, the flag went up at the Civic Center in a ceremony with Mayor Dominic Aliano and Councilmembers Edi Birsan, Tim McGallian and Carlyn Obringer in attendance. In Clayton, the ceremony included Mayor Peter Cloven, Vice Mayor Holly Tillman and Councilmember CW Wolfe. (Pioneer Publishers)
  2. The Seattle Police Department has released a cell phone video of law enforcement shooting and killing Marshall Curtis Jones, the suspect in the Alexis Gabe murder case. Gabe went missing in January. On May 26, Contra Costa County DA filed murder charges against Jones in her case and on June 1, an arrest warrant was obtained. In the course of the arrest, law enforcement knocked on the Washington residence where Jones was said to be living. When the Task Force officers announced their presence at the apartment, Marshall Curtis Jones exited the apartment and allegedly charged at officers while holding a large kitchen knife. Police then shot him. (East County Today)
  3. According to Danville Police Chief Allan Shields, "at 11:13 a.m. Danville officers served an arrest and a search warrant at 412 W. 2nd Street [in Antioch], a store front but not currently operating as a business. The warrant stemmed from a residential burglary that took place in the Town of Danville on April 9."Danville officers arrested Eddie Martinez in relation to the warrant. (Antioch Herald)
  4. A group of parents from the Cal High cheer and stunt team have issued a letter demanding the termination of San Ramon Valley Schools Superintendent John Malloy. According to the letter, after the "defamatory post caught fire, members of the predominately white cheer team woke up to death threats, doxxing and accusations that they were racists and committed racist acts all over social media." Lawyers for the group claim that the superintendent was aware that there were falsehoods in the viral post and that they believed it was posted by a "disgruntled mother" whose daughter did not make the team. "Creating safe schools that are welcoming and inclusive for all our students requires us to examine our practices of how we may — even unintentionally — have a harmful impact on others," Malloy stated.
