Here are the top stories today in Concord:

  1. Snoop Dogg's coming to Concord! The tour "which also includes Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Warren G, Berner and DJ Drama" will be at the Concord Pavilion on August 26. Tickets go on sale at 9:00 a.m. on March 10. Be ready to jump on 'em! (Marin Independent Journal)
  2. Residents near the Martinez refinery are being cautioned not to eat the vegetables that grow in their gardens, as those plants may have been exposed to “spent catalyst” with heavy metals through contaminated soil. “'We are making this recommendation out of an abundance of caution,' said Dr. Ori Tzvieli, health officer for Contra Costa County, who issued a health advisory on the matter today. 'There is no immediate health threat to the community. That said, it’s also always better to be safe than sorry.'” (Claycord.com)
  3. Senator Glazer published a statement on the resignation of BART inspector general Harriet Richardson. In it, Glazer is critical of the BART board of directors and management, accusing them of being "determined to undermine her investigations." You can read his full statement in this article from Contra Costa News.
  4. The old Bank of America building in Orinda Village is getting a new lease on life! Three restaurants are scheduled to take over the bottom floor of the building. Business offices will occupy the second floor. Over 40 tenants have been interviewed for the restaurant spaces and upstairs offices. The site is set to open in 2024. (lamorindaweekly.com)
  5. Are you ready to get wet, Concord? How about an atmospheric river and nearly two weeks of non-stop rain? Ugh. Didn't we just do this?? "Weather officials described the incoming storm as a 'conveyer belt of moisture' entering the region from the tropics in the Pacific Ocean, with an increasing possibility of several inches of rain." Grab your umbrellas. It's gonna get messy! (Claycord.com)
