Officers arrived and found a blue Toyota Prius and a red Chevrolet Cruze that had collided, according to the Concord Police Department.

Officers and other emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the Chevrolet driver died at the scene, police said.

The Toyota driver suffered injuries that police described as non-life-threatening. Emergency personnel transported the driver for medical treatment.

Police closed the roadway for about four hours while officers conducted their initial investigation.

The department did not release the identity of the driver who died or provide details Thursday about what investigators believe caused the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information about the collision, should contact Concord police Traffic Officer Scott Ho at 925-671-5931.
