• Concord Grants Reach Thousands But Housing Lags, Annual Report Shows (patch.com) — Concord is detailing how more than $1.3 million in grants and cannabis community funds helped over 21,000 residents, even as rising costs limited housing repairs and shelter capacity. The city exceeded many service goals for vulnerable residents but fell short on homeowner repair targets and Winter Nights shelter placements, while a new 62‑unit affordable complex is now fully occupied.
   

• Flag football Recap: Ygnacio Valley Edges Mt. Diablo at the Wire (maxpreps.com) — Ygnacio Valley's flag football team just edged Mt. Diablo 20-19, and now all eyes in Concord turn to Monday night's 7:30 p.m. matchup when Mt. Diablo visits Concord in conference play. With Ygnacio Valley seeking momentum against Alhambra and Mt. Diablo still winless, Concord fans have a prime chance to support local athletes under the lights.
   

• Brentwood, Orinda Educators Named 2026-27 Contra Costa County Teachers of the Year (contracosta.news) — Two standout teachers from Brentwood and Orinda have been named Contra Costa County Teachers of the Year, with their countywide celebration held at the Hilton Concord. While the honorees work in other cities, Concord residents hosted the event spotlighting 22 educators and will see the winners advance to the statewide competition this fall.
