CONCORD, CA — The Knights of Columbus named Concord Police Detective Michael Kinnison the 2026 Blue Knight Award recipient for his community service.
The Knights of Columbus local chapter presented the accolade during an annual Blue Mass and awards ceremony.
Kinnison joined the Concord Police Department in 2023 after serving with the Los Angeles Police Department, according to an announcement.
While assigned to the Community Impact Unit, Kinnison worked on issues involving homelessness, mental health concerns, organized retail theft, and nuisance properties. He also supported community meetings and events throughout Concord, according to the department.
Kinnison has served as a field training officer and backup crime scene investigator.
The Concord Police Department recently selected him to work as a detective in its Financial Crimes Unit.
He previously received the department's Distinguished Service Medal and Superior Performance Award.
The Todos Santos Assembly 2286 recognizes first responders from the Concord, Clayton, and Martinez police departments, the California Highway Patrol, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, and Contra Costa County Fire.
